Job Title: Engineering Technician II

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician II to support the Sensors and SONAR Systems Department of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division Newport. The successful candidate will provide engineering services for analyses, in-service engineering, prototype development, test and evaluation, and system engineering services in support of Towed, Hull and Sensor System programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations.
  • Follow standard work methods on recurring assignments but receive explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments.
  • Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.
  • Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form.

Requirements:

  • High School / vocational School Diploma or GED certificate
  • 1 year experience necessary
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a security clearance required; current clearance a plus.
  • The individual should be goal-oriented and have a strong work ethic.
  • The ability to multi-task and work in a team environment is essential.
