Overview

Kamatics, a divison of Kaman that speicalizes in self-lubricating bearings and engineered products, is looking for talented CNC Machinists We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated CNC Machinist II to join our team in Bloomfield, CT on day shift. The core hours for the position are 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM, and we are currently running one hour of mandatory overtime, at the beginning of the shift for a required 45 hours a week. Overttime pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 hours in a week. We offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits including a 100% dollar for dollar match on the first 5% you contribute to the 401(k) plan along with generous time-off programs. This includes a one week paid shutdown during the holidays that does not require you to use vacation time. Team players with a passion for excellence should apply.

Our products are used in space, aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications. As an industry leader we design, test and manufacture the highest performing, self-lubricating, roller element, metal to metal and miniature bearings in the industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • With limited technical supervision, checks out programming, sets up, operates and adjusts semi-automatic numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring considerable skill
  • Works from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings
  • Perform operations that may include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations.
  • Checks parts for conformance to specifications
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contribute to 5S program in work area
  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed

Qualifications

Education:
  • High School diploma/GED
  • Machining Training Certificate preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNC Machinist II or minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience as a CNC machinist
Skills / Knowledge
  • Understanding of Common GD&T restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism
  • Proficient in use of shop math
  • Limited technical supervision
  • Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures
  • Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes
