OverviewKaman Specialty Bearings & Engineered Products, has an exciting opportunity as a CNC Machinist III - Spherical at our Bloomfield CT facility. Kaman Specialty Bearings & Engineered Products, a division of Kaman Corporation, is a leader in the design and manufacture of high technology mechanical products, such as self-lubricated bearings and driveline couplings, used in aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
With limited technical supervision, checks out programming, sets up, operates and adjusts semi-automatic numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring considerable skill
Works from programming instructions, operational data and machine setup instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings
Perform operations that may include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations.
Checks parts for conformance to specifications
Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations
Maintain clean and safe work environment. Follow safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Report safety incidents to supervisor
Make recommendations for improvements to work processes. Contribute to 5S program in work area
Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment
Perform other duties as assigned. Participate in learning other positions. Accomplish related results as needed
QualificationsEducation:
High School diploma/GED
Machining Training Certificate preferred
Experience:Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNC Machinist II or minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience as a CNC machinist
Skills / Knowledge
Understanding of Common GD&T restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism
Proficient in use of shop math
Limited technical supervision
Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures
Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes
