Position Overview:
As a Fabrication Manager, your primary responsibility is to oversee all aspects of the fabrication process within the organization, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality fabricated components and structures. You will lead a team of fabricators, welders, and machinists, coordinate production schedules, and manage resources to meet production targets and quality standards. Your role involves implementing best practices, optimizing processes, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning and Scheduling:

Develop and implement production schedules, work plans, and resource allocations to meet production goals and customer delivery requirements.
Coordinate with sales, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials, resources, and technical specifications.
Monitor production progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and adjust schedules as needed to optimize production efficiency and meet deadlines.

2. Quality Assurance and Control:

Establish quality control procedures, inspection criteria, and testing protocols to ensure the highest standards of product quality and conformance.
Conduct regular inspections, audits, and reviews of fabricated components and structures to identify and address quality issues or non-conformities.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams, engineers, and customers to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective actions and preventive measures.

3. Team Leadership and Development:

Lead and mentor a team of fabricators, welders, machinists, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to foster skill development and career growth.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement, recognizing and rewarding achievements and promoting a safe working environment.
Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and goal-setting sessions to align team objectives with organizational goals and objectives.

4. Process Optimization and Efficiency:

Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and waste minimization within the fabrication department, and implement best practices and lean manufacturing principles to optimize operations.
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and implement design improvements, production enhancements, and manufacturing automation solutions.
Monitor production metrics, analyze performance data, and implement corrective actions to address bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and quality issues.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
Proven experience as a Fabrication Manager or similar role in fabrication, manufacturing, or metalworking industry.
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, and equipment, with proficiency in reading technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a diverse team of production professionals.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues, prioritize tasks, and implement effective solutions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as customers, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in using computerized production planning, scheduling, and inventory management systems.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, walk, and move around the fabrication shop for extended periods.
Strength and stamina to lift and carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds.
Visual acuity and depth perception for reviewing technical drawings, inspecting fabricated components, and monitoring production operations.
Manual dexterity for operating fabrication equipment, machinery controls, and hand tools.
