Thalle Construction Co. Inc. ("Thalle") is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator, specfically looking for Excavator and Dozer Operators. The Operator will report to the Superintendent and work closely with and support the operations team, interact with a variety of staff at all levels and uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. This position is located in Terrell, Texas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate machinery under general supervision.
  • Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, or other workers.
  • Inspect and adjust machinery for safety issues daily.
  • Clean, repair, and maintain mechanisms as needed.
  • Determine if any parts are malfunctioning.
  • Complete job tickets, service quality summaries, and all other necessary paperwork.
  • Review work schedule or special loading instructions.
  • Lift, position and place machinery, equipment or other large objects at construction sites and industrial facilities.
  • Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to receive written or oral instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with office and field personnel.
  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others.
Physical Requirements:
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Work long shifts.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
  • Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area up to 1/2 mile.
  • Able to enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet (or more) off the ground.
  • Able to safely operate the equipment (if authorized for that piece of equipment).
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
