Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Thalle Construction Co. Inc. is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery under general supervision, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy machinery, including excavators and dozers, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Inspect and adjust machinery for safety issues daily, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Clean, repair, and maintain mechanisms as needed, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and company procedures.
  • Determine if any parts are malfunctioning, reporting issues to the Superintendent or Maintenance Team.
  • Complete job tickets, service quality summaries, and all other necessary paperwork, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Review work schedule or special loading instructions, ensuring seamless execution of projects.
  • Lift, position, and place machinery, equipment, or other large objects at construction sites and industrial facilities, demonstrating physical stamina and dexterity.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to receive written or oral instructions, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with office and field personnel, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment.
  • Commitment to contributing to a culture of safety, prioritizing the well-being of yourself and others.
Physical Requirements:
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Work long shifts, adapting to changing project demands and schedules.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions, with exposure to the elements, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and quick reaction times, essential for safe equipment operation.
  • Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots, adhering to company safety protocols.
  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work areas, up to 1/2 mile, demonstrating physical fitness and stamina.
  • Able to enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet or more off the ground, showcasing agility and mobility.
  • Able to safely operate equipment, if authorized for that piece of equipment, demonstrating expertise and confidence.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance, consistent with company policies and industry standards.
  • Ability to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone, demonstrating strong communication skills.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
