Community Outreach and Events Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW: Plan, manage, coordinate and implement a variety of BBB programs, projects and events to support the BBB mission and increase engagement with local, Wisconsin communities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following and other duties as assigned.
Plan, coordinate and facilitate BBB® programs, community outreach efforts and events in support of the mission to help advance marketplace trust through education and the support of individuals, businesses and charities operating with integrity including, but not limited to:
- Educational and networking events for BBB Accredited Businesses in Wisconsin
- BBB Ethics Awards signature annual event (May)
- BBB Annual Meeting event (November)
- Consumer events (such as National Night Out, Scam Jam, fairs and expos)
- BBB Ethics Awards programs: BBB Torch Awards for Ethics, BBB Spark Awards for Entrepreneurship and BBB Students of Integrity Scholarship program
- BBB Speaker’s Bureau - speaking engagements and presentations for businesses and consumers
- Coordinate and effectively communicate with the marketing team to create/update materials, website and promotions for all events and programs, ensuring maximum efficiency, planning and effectiveness
- Schedule and organize meetings/events, communicating regularly with stakeholders, presenters and registrants/attendees
- Coordinate, attend and present at meetings and events, both in person and virtually
- Maintain events and outreach calendar, schedule, budgets, surveys and reports
- Develop and implement new events and/or programs that support the BBB mission in Wisconsin
- Represent the Better Business Bureau in Wisconsin at events, meetings, and by giving presentations to both large and small groups
- Create and nurture new and old relationships with community partners, organizations and businesses
- Refer qualified business leads to the business relations & development team when applicable
- Assist the marketing department with a variety of tasks as needed

Education and/or Experience:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree OR 3+ years experience
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision and professionally represent the BBB brand
- Proactive problem solver
- Excellent attention to detail
- Friendly, enthusiastic, outgoing and positive attitude
- Advanced listening and customer service skills
- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize workload involving multiple projects at one time independently
- In-depth knowledge of program and events management and development procedures
- General knowledge of event technology, social media, Google & Microsoft products, email marketing programs, event registration programs, basic marketing platforms and the ability to troubleshoot
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to write speeches and speak publicly to both small and large groups of individuals.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office including Word and Excel, and G Suite.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: BBB’s work environment is that of a typical office, and the characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may expect to encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of sitting and standing for extended periods of time, as well as be able to intermittently push, pull, or lift 15+lbs. of force.
