Student Affairs Manager – UC Santa Barbara In this role, you will oversee all facets of graduate and undergraduate student affairs within the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Humanities Building Sciences (HSSB) Administrative Support Center (HASC). Working under the Center Director, you’ll manage a broad portfolio that includes student services, curriculum planning, finance, academic personnel, and space management. Responsibilities Student Affairs Management – Provide oversight and support for approximately 200 graduate students and 900 undergraduate students. Manage admissions, financial aid, academic advising, enrollment, course scheduling, and student petitions. Coordinate commencement events, university activity participation, and service to faculty and staff. Curriculum, Project, and Finance Management – Facilitate academic year and summer session curriculum planning; analyze enrollment and budget data; submit and manage a $2.42 million annual Temporary Sub‑0 budget; keep funding databases; collaborate with the Dean’s office and cost‑allocation systems. Staff Supervision – Lead 6 full‑time staff in the Student Services Unit. Responsibilities include hiring, training, performance evaluations, workload distribution, and professional development. Develop job descriptions, conduct reclassification cases, and ensure compliance with personnel policies. Academic Personnel Management – Oversee hiring and management of over 200 Teaching Assistants, 50 Readers, and 20 Teaching Associates. Maintain policies for appointment, leave, payroll, and disability/accommodation processing. Space Management – Ensure efficient utilization of approximately 200 departmental spaces. Manage reservation systems, analyze space needs, coordinate office assignments, maintain utilization databases, and complete annual space audit reports. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training. 1–3 years of administrative experience. 1–3 years of experience working in higher education or an academic setting. Preferred Qualifications 1–3 years of supervisory experience. Experience with strategic curriculum planning for academic departments. Experience with UC student affairs systems, policy, and procedure. Special Conditions of Employment Satisfactory conviction history background check. UCSB is a Tobacco‑Free environment.
