Our client, a rapidly growing series B natural food startup based in San Diego, is looking for a Vice President of Business Development to join the team

As part of the team, you will:

  • Build and deepen customer relationships with a strategy that transforms first conversations into robust partnerships and seamless deal execution.
  • Craft and execute razor-sharp business development strategies that break through market barriers
  • Aggressively pursue new market opportunities, leveraging deep industry insightsand a relentless drive to win.
  • Forge strategic partnerships with companies, research institutions, and industry groups to enhance product offerings and enter new markets.
  • Pinpoint and comprehend market needs, ensuring our product lines are in lockstep with customer expectations now and in the future.
  • Directly align business development activities with exponential sales growth, setting ambitious targets and leading the team to exceed them.
  • Collaborate with R&D to ensure our product development is always several steps ahead of market needs.
  • Build and lead a business development team that is not just high-performing but sets the standard for excellence in the industry.
  • Take the helm on high-impact projects, whether its; crafting cutting-edge marketing campaigns, determining the location of our next production facilities, or exploring new business model opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of exceptional achievement in business development and/or sales within the b2b food or closely related industry.
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in Business Development or Strategic
  • Partnerships, with at least 5 in a strategic leadership role and a track record of negotiating complex agreements.
  • A relentless drive for results, demonstrated through a history of surpassing bold growth targets, clearly establishing product-market fit with new products/compounds.
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of not just navigating but mastering the complexities of the global food ingredient market, including regulatory environments.
  • Superior negotiation and strategic thinking skills, with a knack for closing deals that others thought impossible.
  • Ability to distill complex product and technology information into easy-to-digest sales materials, emails, presentations, or demonstrations.
  • Strong understanding of the global food ingredient market, including trends, challenges, and regulatory environments.
