USALCO, LLC is a major unit within the manufacturing network of a leading provider of aluminum-based component products used in water treatment, pulp and paper manufacturing, the making of catalysts for oil refining, the housing market and other sectors. The Site Manager reports to the Regional Operations Manager OH Plants, and the position requires a detail-oriented, self-starter who:

  • Incorporates safety, quality and continuous improvement into every decision while performing day-to-day tasks. Safety, Quality, and Productivity are paramount concerns.
  • Can efficiently manage personnel, chemical processes, and equipment reliability to meet manufacturing specifications for maximizing productivity without compromising safety or quality.
  • Will actively seek out opportunities for process improvement and take full responsibility for collaborating with management and peers.

The holder of this position will be a positive-natured, task-oriented individual with operating and administrative experience. The Site Manager will be responsible for all safety, distribution, manufacturing, maintenance, operational and quality functions. The person must possess excellent communication and people skills necessary to motivate and instill trust and confidence of others. The person will be a team player who is at their best when working with others to develop and manage the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility. This person must be personally and professionally motivated to work constructively with team members at all levels within the company, to execute job responsibilities with a sense of urgency and to support plant and business initiatives. Finally, the individual will be a creative and entrepreneurial thinker who also values and inspires creative, entrepreneurial thinking in others.

Essential DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordination and Supervision - Coordinate, manage, and monitor the workings of various departments within the site. To include safety, quality control, materials planning including inventory and logistics, manufacturing, maintenance, and finished goods distribution.
  • Financial - Review financial reports and data. Utilize financial data to improve performance of site. Prepare and control site expenses and capital budgets. Control inventory. Seek out cost savings through a continuous improvement program.
  • Human Resources - Plan the use of human resources. Organize recruitment and placement of required staff using company established policies. Establish site organizational structure with up-to-date succession planning. Establish work schedules, set employee expectations, motivate, train, and monitor/evaluate performance.
  • Manufacturing - Coordinate and monitor the work of various departments involved in production, warehousing and distribution of goods. Monitor performance and implement improvements. Ensure the quality of products. Manage maintenance of equipment and machinery and provide technical support as necessary. Improve quality, profitability, efficiency and productivity through technology, personnel training and process improvement.
  • Communication - Monitor, manage and improve communication throughout the site. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions such as IT, HR, Accounting, Sales, Engineering, and Finance.
  • Sales, Marketing and Customer Service - Manage customer support. Plan and support sales, marketing, and customer service activities. Consistently meet/exceed our customer service standards by ensuring prompt and accurate completion of service requests and by researching and resolving service issues and implementing long term solutions.
  • Strategic Input - Liaison with the Management Leadership Team in the development of strategic and operational activity for the site.

Other Responsibilities:

  • The tracking and reporting of KPIs on Site overall performance
  • Driving 5S & continuous improvement culture throughout the Site.
  • Implement processes, training, and record keeping to all personnel at the site to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure security of site is maintained.
  • Provide operational support to personnel of site as needed to ensure customer demands are met.
  • Communicating and enforcing facility safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality standards (NSF, ISO, etc.) in the areas of process control, materials control, purchasing, and product identification & traceability

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent (MBA a plus), preferred will consider others based on relevant work experience
  • 10+ years of hands-on Management experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Previous management experience in a specialty chemical, heavy industry, intensive asset environment with significant processing equipment and material handling, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated results-oriented, metrics-driven leader with expertise in safety and quality compliance and continuous improvement

Required Skills:

  • Identify process improvements as prioritized to business needs and external benchmarks. Assess and resolve root causes of problems and inconsistencies.
  • Business acumen to align manufacturing to financial goals and customer needs and expectations.
  • Solid analytical and computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems and Cadd
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Outstanding team building and leadership skills.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in championing and leading change across a business, including driving Management of Change and Operational Discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to challenge status quo, identify key areas for improvement and implement actions to address.

Preferred:

Experience with NSF and ISO processes with procedure and audits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Ability to:

  • Must be dependable, flexible and able to respond on short notice to satisfy the requirements of customers.
  • Routinely lift 50 to 75 lbs. throughout the shift
  • Routinely stand 60 to 70% of shift
  • Routinely traverse between two Sites in Ashtabula.
  • Routinely must traverse ship ladders, catwalks and close quarters
  • Work inside confined spaces, as needed
  • Travel 5-10%
