Job Summary:- Collect refuse along designated waste collection routes and transport waste to a transfer station and/or landfill
- Perform refuse collection and recycling duties as necessary
- Lift and load garbage bags and/or cans into the garbage truck
- Pick up yard waste and tree limbs, ensuring a clean and safe environment for the community
- Assist in various waste recycling activities, promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility
- Carry out written and verbal instructions efficiently, maintaining a high level of productivity and accuracy
- Operate power tools as needed, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines
- Lift and deliver heavy materials to job sites, demonstrating physical stamina and endurance
- Collect litter from public areas and right-of-way, contributing to a clean and attractive community
- Clean job sites and public property, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for residents and visitors
- Ability to drive a garbage truck, possessing a valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Follow orders, rules, maps, and direction for refuse pick up, demonstrating a high level of attention to detail and responsibility
- Capable of independent and responsible action, working effectively with minimal supervision
- Able to work safely, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines, and possessing a safe driving record
- Must be able to communicate effectively with the public, providing excellent customer service and responding to inquiries
- Reading written orders and writing reports, maintaining accurate and detailed records
- Lift and place approximately 1500 bags/cans (approximately 25 lbs. each) into the garbage truck each day, demonstrating physical stamina and endurance
- Walk prolonged distances over refuse collection routes, ensuring a high level of physical fitness and mobility
- Must be able to lift heavy objects over his/her head, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines
- Push containers of 600 to 1000 lbs. to the truck, demonstrating physical strength and endurance
- Work outside in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation
