The role

G-Research’s Cloud Engineering group is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer, specializing in Cloud Security and Compliance, to join its rapidly expanding global team based in Dallas.

As an AWS Cloud Security and Compliance Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining our global security estate within AWS. This crucial role will rely on your expertise in deploying highly available security solutions to support the company's operational needs and strategic goals.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Becoming the in-house subject matter expert on AWS Security and Compliance services
Designing scalable, reliable and secure solutions and architectures within the AWS ecosystem
Collaborating with various teams to enforce strict security measures and ensure compliance with internal policies
Automating deployments and operations using scripting languages such as Python and infrastructure as code tools such as AWS CloudFormation and Terraform
Working with the Cybersecurity Incident Response team to develop and maintain incident response strategies for solutions and participating in IR testing where applicable
Proactively investigating and advising on strategies to improve the security posture of consumer teams for new and existing solutions
Monitoring and providing advice on current state of compliance within the AWS ecosystem and providing guidance on corrective actions
Working to automate the remediation of high criticality compliance deviations with minimal to no human input required
Staying informed and actively monitoring AWS for updates to service offerings and providing recommendations to consumer teams and stakeholders

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

3+ years of experience in Security and Compliance, with a focus on AWS
Expertise in at least one programming language, such as Python or Golang
Expertise in infrastructure as code tooling, with a minimum of one of Terraform, Cloudformation or Ansible
Strong proficiency in AWS Security and Compliance tools and services, including but not limited to IAM, KMS, AWS Config, AWS Security Hub, AWS GuardDuty and AWS Inspector.
Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, architectures and services offered by AWS
Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders across different departments
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
AWS certification(s), such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Security Speciality, is highly desirable
