Shift:
48 hours per bi-weekly pay period
Part time

The Room Service Clerk/Food Service Aide provides support to the patients by performing functions in the areas of meal planning and proper menu selections dependent on diet order. Performs various duties for patient tray set-up and delivery; responsible for cleaning and sanitation duties of food service area and equipment/tools.

  • Retrieves Inpatient Diet Reports for all three meals for appropriate diet and menu planning with patients.
  • Compares Diet Report with diets in CBORD Room Service. Makes changes as needed.Uses Compass PAL throughout meal service to assure correct diet is being offered to patient. Updates Tube Feeding Report as needed.
  • Enters pertinent diet information from patient phone interviews into Notes in CBORD as appropriate or gives verbal report to next shift.
  • Assists patient with meal planning based on diet order and enters menu selection in CBORD being aware of nutrition needs of various age groups. Contacts Nursing staff or family if patient is unable to communicate food preferences.
  • Is knowledgeable about special diets and adheres to parameters outlined in the "Manual of Clinical Dietetics" (diet manual).
  • Prints patient menu tickets for each meal and communicates with Kitchen staff as needed.
  • Assists in kitchen with food preparation and tray set up as time permits.
  • Check missed meal report three times daily after each meal service and call patients per department procedure.
  • A.M. associate prepares floor stock items for Med/Surg/Peds (MSP), OB, and Emergency Department; P.M. associate responsible for restocking nursing units.
Requirements for this position include:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous healthcare food service experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills. Must possess a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Experience with PowerChart and/or Cbord
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
