The Cambridge-Ellis School, Cambridge, MA is seeking a Preschool Teacher for our French Immersion classroom for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year, with the possibility to continue in future school years. The ideal candidate is native French speaking and has strong conversational and written English skills. Candidates with strong conversational fluency in French will also be considered. Strong candidates will also have experience working with neurodiverse learners and/or working in inclusion settings.


Work Hours:

  • Work hours for this position are flexible. Mon-Fri from 2:30-6 pm is required, but earlier start times are possible. 
  • Flexible Start Date: Anytime now through January 6, 2025
  • Mondays from 7-8pm for staff meetings (via zoom)
  • Participate in out of school hours events as described in the Employee Handbook
  • Opportunity to work in the Summer Program for additional compensation


Compensation:

  • This position is salaried, but the equivalent hourly rate for this position ranges from $30-35/hour
  • Employees working at least 20 hours per week are eligible for healthcare benefits
  • Employees working at least 25 hours per week can receive healthcare at no cost

  • Opportunity to sub as needed in the morning program for the same hourly rate

Role and Responsibilities:

  • All Head teachers are considered models of best practice in early childhood education, and as such bear responsibility for leadership among their peers and mentors for their team members
  • Responsible for facilitating team development and implementation of room design, set up, curriculum planning, and documentation
  • Provide and supervise activities that promote healthy social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child
  • Engage collaboratively in weekly team planning meetings and staff meetings
  • Create narrative growth reports that highlight the development and learning of children through classroom observations and student work


Goals of this Positions:

  • Design child centered curriculum that addresses topics of social justice, environmental conservation, and community engagement
  • Work collaboratively on school committees to further the growth and advancement of our school community
  • Support a joyful, play-based learning environment with a goal of 90% French immersion


CES is a non-profit, NAEYC accredited school serving children ages 2-6 years old. We provide a warm, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment through emergent curriculum planning and by using an inquiry-based approach for teaching and learning. Our unique after-school Language Program offers mixed-age immersion language classes in Mandarin, French, or Spanish for preschoolers ages 3-6.

CES offers a competitive and generous compensation package. Our school year runs from September through mid June. Teachers have the opportunity to work in our summer program in addition to the school year, which offers a full day language immersion program.
