Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our team in Vancouver, Washington. The ideal candidate will have experience working with hospice patients and be well-versed in handling advanced respiratory therapy equipment. This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care services for patients with terminal illnesses and those requiring complex respiratory treatments and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care : Deliver high-quality respiratory therapy services to hospice patients and individuals requiring advanced respiratory care in various settings, including homes, hospice centers, and hospitals.
- Equipment Management : Operate, monitor, and maintain advanced respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, oxygen systems, CPAP/BiPAP devices, and nebulizers.
- Patient Education : Educate patients, families, and caregivers on the proper use of respiratory equipment and techniques to manage respiratory conditions in a home or hospice environment.
- Care Coordination : Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and hospice care teams to develop and implement individualized care plans that align with the patient's medical and emotional needs.
- Assessments : Conduct respiratory assessments, including arterial blood gases (ABGs) and pulmonary function tests (PFTs), and monitor patients' respiratory status.
- End-of-Life Care : Provide comfort care to terminally ill patients by managing respiratory distress and easing symptoms related to chronic respiratory conditions in end-of-life care.
- Documentation : Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and care plans, documenting all treatments, assessments, and patient interactions per industry standards and regulations.
- Education : Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
- Certification : Current licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in Washington State.
- Experience : Minimum of 2-3 years of respiratory therapy experience, with a focus on hospice care or complex respiratory cases.
- Advanced Equipment Knowledge : Proficiency in using and troubleshooting advanced respiratory therapy equipment such as ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and non-invasive ventilation devices.
- CPR/BLS Certification : Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Hospice Experience : Experience in providing care to terminally ill patients, focusing on comfort and quality of life.
- Compassionate Care : Demonstrated ability to provide sensitive and empathetic care to patients and families in emotionally challenging situations.
- Strong Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and educate patients and families.
- Problem-Solving : Ability to assess and respond to respiratory issues in critically ill patients and troubleshoot complex respiratory therapy equipment.
- Attention to Detail : Ensure all respiratory treatments are carried out correctly and patient records are meticulously maintained.
- Work may take place in various settings, including patient homes, hospice care facilities, and hospitals.
- Requires the ability to work independently and adapt to different care environments while providing patient-centered care.
