Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) to join our healthcare team in Vancouver, Washington. This role requires a professional with expertise in working with hospice patients and managing advanced respiratory therapy equipment. The CRT will provide comprehensive respiratory care and support for patients with complex respiratory conditions, ensuring the highest standard of comfort, particularly for those in hospice care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Care : Provide personalized respiratory therapy services to hospice patients and those with advanced respiratory needs, offering care in various environments such as homes, hospice facilities, and hospitals.
  • Equipment Operation : Set up, operate, and monitor advanced respiratory therapy equipment, including ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, CPAP/BiPAP devices, and nebulizers, ensuring proper function and patient comfort.
  • Patient and Family Education : Educate patients, families, and caregivers on the appropriate use of respiratory equipment and breathing techniques for managing respiratory conditions at home or in hospice settings.
  • Collaboration with Care Teams : Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and hospice care staff, to develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans that align with the patient's medical and emotional needs.
  • Monitoring and Assessments : Conduct regular assessments of respiratory status, adjusting therapy as necessary, and monitoring for any changes in the patient's condition that require intervention.
  • End-of-Life Respiratory Support : Provide compassionate care to terminally ill patients, managing respiratory symptoms to improve comfort and ease distress during end-of-life stages.
  • Documentation : Accurately document all treatments, assessments, and patient interactions in compliance with medical and regulatory standards, ensuring timely updates to care plans.
Qualifications:
  • Education : Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Certification : Active certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) in the state of Washington.
  • Experience : Minimum of 2 years of experience in respiratory therapy, with a focus on hospice or palliative care settings and advanced respiratory equipment.
  • Advanced Equipment Proficiency : Competency in managing and troubleshooting advanced respiratory therapy equipment such as mechanical ventilators, oxygen systems, and non-invasive ventilation devices.
  • CPR/BLS Certification : Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Hospice Care Experience : Demonstrated experience in caring for terminally ill patients, with a focus on providing comfort and managing respiratory distress at the end of life.
