About This Role The Senior Membership and Project Officer plays a pivotal role in fostering and enhancing engagement among the organization’s members. The Senior Officer cultivates and manages member services, ensuring support and opportunities for collaboration in the North America and Latin America regions. This is a full-time, grant-funded position through December 31, 2026. This is a hybrid position based in Washington, DC requiring at least one day per week in the office. Remote candidates will not be considered. Required Experience and Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education. At least 5 years of professional experience, including significant experience in event management. Demonstrated experience with project management. Experience in a similar membership-based organization is preferred. Experience working in a non-profit organization or international development sector is preferred. Experience working with customer relationship management (CRM) software and databases is preferred. Primary Responsibilities Serve as the primary contact for GISF members, responding promptly to inquiries. Guide potential new members through the application process. Lead the planning and execution of in-person and virtual events, including a North America flagship event every two years. Maintain up-to-date records of members. Capture data from events for use in member engagement and knowledge sharing. Support GISF engagement with the commercial sector and conduct outreach to develop strategic partnerships for the benefit of members. Actively contribute to GISF initiatives. Maintain a willingness to learn and develop knowledge about the NGO security risk management area. Remain alert and responsive to any safeguarding risks. Teamwork: the ability to work effectively and collaborate with others. Communication: demonstrates empathy and tact when communicating with others. Results orientation: gets things done; takes proactive steps to achieve organizational goals. Decision making: uses good judgement and critical thinking. Resilience: thrives and grows in rapidly changing environments. Digital literacy: adopts and champions new technology. Other Required Competencies The ability to read, speak, and write fluently in English is required; fluency in Spanish is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications.
