Waste Sector Business Development Director Mid‑Senior Level – Full‑time position in Management, Consulting, and Engineering within the Waste Services business class at HDR. What You’ll Do Lead strategic growth: drive HDR’s global market share and revenue growth. Build client relationships: serve as a trusted advisor to key clients, aligning HDR’s capabilities to meet their goals. Drive business development: lead major pursuits and campaigns, develop winning strategies, and guide proposal efforts. Shape market strategy: collaborate with market and operations leadership to define and support regional strategic plans. Mentor and train: support the maturation of business development skills across teams. Align resources: ensure the right talent and expertise are matched to client needs and growth opportunities while attracting top talent. What You Bring (Roles and Responsibilities) Achieve global booking goals for the Waste Sector. Manage regional Waste business development leaders. Maintain a strong understanding of market trends and drivers. Work with the Waste Sector Director to create a vision aligned with company direction. Oversee annual and long‑term strategic plans, including growth initiatives and investment prioritization. Develop cross‑market strategic initiatives in the RBG. Lead major pursuit teams in capture planning. Identify candidates to fill management, technical, business development, and marketing positions. Introduce training on best practices for business development and marketing. Implement major client plans and long‑term market‑share strategies. Serve as client manager for key Waste sector accounts, maintaining strong relationships and deep understanding of client organization and opportunities. Build business relationships with teaming partners. Actively participate in professional associations to elevate HDR’s brand. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Professional or engineering registration, certificate, or related technical experience. Experience winning high‑value contracts in the Waste industry. Required Qualifications Minimum of 15 years relevant industry experience. Demonstrated “self‑starter” with a history of completing projects with limited oversight. Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry's standard approach to procurement of professional services. Experience motivating and inspiring others. Ability to build a network of clients and industry partners. Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies. Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willingness and desire to travel and engage in person. Experience growing programs in new or highly competitive markets. Experience winning high‑value contracts in the A/E/C industry.
