How this role contributes to the Y’s mission:

As a Y Senior Program Director of Teen Programming, you will be responsible for leading the Y in Central Maryland operations of key teen programs including Youth & Government, Leaders Club, and Y Achievers as well as supporting other Y Center and school-based youth development programs. You will oversee all physical areas in multiple facilities at the time programs are in session as well as guide associates and volunteers. You will collaborate with Y Family Centers and community partners to ensure successful communication, program planning, implementation and support of program growth. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all participants. You will use your creativity to create or enhance teen programming and continuously evaluate program effectiveness. You will utilize your skills in hiring, staffing, scheduling, quality execution, budget management, relationship management and fundraising. As a Y Senior Program Director of Teen Programming, you’ll contribute to the Y and to the broader community through offering positive youth development opportunities that foster belonging/relationship building, character, achievement, and wellness that result in narrowing the opportunity gap and helping every child and youth succeed in school and in life.

This work is right for you if you have:

  • An interest in the well-being of teen youth, enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment and a good spirit.
  • The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to teen youth, parents/guardians, members, and other Y associates.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in managing youth development programs; YMCA experience preferred.
  • Prior experience developing and implementing programs in a multi-site, off-site environment, while working with both child and adult populations.
  • Prior experience in partnership development, relationship building, fiscal management, member service, marketing and staff/volunteer supervision.
