About the role

The Medical Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations at their designated IntraCare clinic. Their role includes providing administrative assistance and ensuring that patients receive high-quality customer service. They will be cross-trained in both front-office and back-office duties, encompassing billing support, scheduling, coding, patient communication, and filing tasks.

The Medical Assistant will report to the Practice Operations manager and will be under the clinical guidance and supervision of the Nurse Practitioner or Physician. They will play a crucial role in the clinical operations with the goal of attaining the highest level of patient satisfaction.

What you'll do

Respond to patient inquiries, including helping them access additional services provided by the clinic. Prepare exam rooms for patient care and facilitate the use of diagnostic equipment. Measure, collect, and record patients' vital signs, and ready patients for examinations, tests, procedures, and x-rays. Conduct routine patient tests, process electrocardiograms, and collect and process blood and urine specimens. Manage electronic patient files and ensure accurate updating and maintenance of health records. Relay test results to patients as instructed by physicians or nursing staff. Perform front office duties, which include but are not limited to welcoming patients, guests, and business representatives upon their arrival at the clinic and ascertaining their visit's purpose. Collect identification documents and carry out the patient registration process, including data entry. Handle patient check-in and check-out procedures. Schedule and manage patient appointments. Process payment transactions, including collecting payments. Verify insurance coverage and eligibility and assist the billing department in claim processing. Occasionally complete pre-certifications and authorizations as needed. Carry out other assigned tasks as required.
