Job Title: Medical Assistant/Referral Coordinator

OnPoint Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant/Referral Coordinator to join our team at OnPoint Family Medicine. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and wellness of our patients and their families.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant/Referral Coordinator will assist the provider in examination and treatment of patients, handle referrals, and coordinate activities related to insurance pre-certification/authorization. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist providers during examination and treatment, performing point of care tests as needed.
  2. Document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
  3. Coordinate referrals and ensure prior approval requirements are met.
  4. Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  5. Perform administrative duties, including patient registration, verification of benefits, and insurance authorizations.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited healthcare program, such as Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT, or equivalent work experience.
  • Maintain certifications per state guidelines.
  • Nationally recognized as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with EMR systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics.
  • Athenahealth practice management system experience.

Salary: $21 - $26 / hour
