Job Summary: 

Principal Database System Administrators, internally known as Principal Analyst, infrastructure Workplace Services, collaborate with a diverse team to support exciting, critical programs with classified information system capabilities. Success in this role means you are able to develop, implement and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments across various classified programs. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and create end-to-end solutions to solve complex Database and IT infrastructure problems. 
 

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Typically, requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience or 9 years relevant experience.

  • Typically, requires Five (5) years of experience in Database Administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL) and SQL scripting. 

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance ​

  • Design, optimize performance, and sustainment of large-scale Oracle and SQL databases, ensuring their compliance, reliability, scalability, and efficient response time. 

  • Experience administering Linux based systems to include patching, performance tuning, networking, user management, and security hardening and provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment.  

  • Experience with data RAID, data backup uses and technologies. Install and configure software applications requested by end users.  Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation and training on advanced IT processes and procedures and other tasks as assigned.  

  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours. 

  • Travel required to other US Domestic locations as business needs dictate up to 10% travel. 

  • Full time 100% Onsite position 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems and experience in one of the following: Active Directory, VMware, MySQL, networking administration experience. 

  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification) 

  • Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RM and experience working experience in Windows Server 

  • Experience with improving database query response performance and optimizing complex Oracle relational databases of significant size (P 1 Petabytes or larger). 

  • Experience in developing migration strategies for RDMS systems and automating database processes and experience with Server architectures. 

  • Support experience for software engineering teams, including schema development for microservice applications and database bottleneck resolution. 

  • Scripting Experience

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
