Nearly 40% of our employees have been with KBS for more than 10 years We are currently seeking a Project Engineer to assist with planning, directing and coordinating technical activities of construction projects to ensure goals and key project deadlines are accomplished.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Analyze projects critical activities and milestone dates, anticipating problems/issues that may arise. Provide necessary support to resolve them.

Develop submittal log. Solicit, log and check submittals, inclusive of cross-referencing all contract documents to ensure product conformance and proper coordination among trades.

Maintain an updated Record Set of Contract documents in the main office, including all specifications, drawings, addenda and as-built information.

Develop warranty/O & M manual listing. Solicit and log warranty/O & M manuals and all necessary close-out documents.

Draft, input and update project schedule with Project Superintendent and Project Manager input. Communicate effectively to all related parties.

Assist Superintendent in the management of on-site safety programs.

Generate and ensure proper logging of RFIs applicable to duties.

Verify validity of Superintendent/Subcontractor RFIs prior to issuing to architect.

Review and verify job cost status reports and input applicable information.

Document verbal agreements/conversations with subcontractors, owners, architects, etc.

Assist Project Manager in purchasing, invoice approval, quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, change orders, engineering, quality control and the on-site Safety Program.

Review subcontractor pay requests; verify accuracy of lien releases and certified payroll.

Additional Responsibilities

Assist in the development of meeting minutes.

Take weekly job site photos as needed. Walk sites several times per week.

Review, catalog and archive field project files for completed files.

Perform other duties as directed by supervisor or other member of management.

Skills and Abilities

Strong understanding of industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on construction activities.

Effective written communication and verbal interpersonal skills are essential. Must be able to develop written reports, business correspondence and presentation materials. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and team members.

Excellent organizational, planning and leadership skills.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Computer mastery of Windows-based applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access. Timberline/Sage job costing and project management modules; ability to use iOS apps such as PlanGrid; Raken; BuildUP.

Possess a good driving record.

Reasoning ability: ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Education and Experience

Minimum: 5 years experience with a general contractor in project engineering capacity or field superintendent level or a four-year degree in construction management; architecture; engineering, etc. or the equivalent combination of education and experience to meet job requirements.
