GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Medical Device Testing Technician will be a core member of the Machine Solutions Customer Service and Sales Support team. The role will be located at the MSI Flagstaff, AZ Office. Machine Solutions testing equipment is used to evaluate and quantify the performance of our customers' interventional devices such as stents, catheters, and guide wires. Testing/applications technicians are responsible for lab-based tasks, which include sample processing, contract testing, measuring, recording, analyzing results and generating reports on MSI equipment with in-house or customer product. The technician will learn how to operate Machine Solutions equipment and use this knowledge to host customer training and perform quality inspections to ensure equipment meets operational specifications. An ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working with their hands and enjoys the challenge of finding unique solutions to meet our customer's needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Become proficient in the use of MSI's testing equipment
•Sample processing, contract testing, measuring, recording, analyzing results and determining whether products meet quality standards on MSI equipment
•Performing repetitive processes to produce acceptable samples and or reliable and precise data for customers
•Creation of sample and contract testing reports, including equipment set up information and graphs/charts of Excel test data, for submission to customers
•Offer ideas for how to improve testing processes or resolve equipment malfunctions
•Interact with customers to define their needs and gain feedback on our performance
•Preparing samples for customer visits and shows
•Support in-house customer visits and FATs as needed
•Work with Aftermarket team to support customers in need of repair and/or re-certifications
•Work with Quality Control team to complete testing of equipment
•Completing software and machine quality assurances tests
•Participates in company's continuous improvement activities.
•Obey all safety standards at all times.
•Responsible for tools and work station issued to employee
•Ad-hoc projects as needed

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's level degree, preference for engineering or technical experience
or
5+ years of related experience, education and/or training in a laboratory environment
Skills Needed:

•Use of basic hand tools and operation of drill press, industrial bench grinder and other light duty machining equipment is required to complete daily tasks.
•Capable of disassembling and reassembling mechanical equipment.
•Typically travel is not intended to be part of this role; however, some small amounts of travel may be required. Estimated at less than 10 days per year.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Much of the day will consist of sitting, and considerable amount of time will be spent standing, walking, using hands to handle, or feel, reaching with arms and hands, talking and hearing. Lots of time will be spent lifting weight up to 10 lbs, some time will be spent lifting weight up to 25 lbs and minimal time will be spent lifting weight up to 50 lbs. The following vision requirements are needed:
•Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
•Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
•Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up or down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point)
•Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
•Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)
•Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Some time is spent working near moving mechanical parts and minimal time is spent near fumes or vibration.
