Regularly, and effectively, recommends hires, transfers, suspensions, layoffs, promotions, and disciplines and discharges through the use of independent judgement to the department director. Communicates with physicians/directors/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Clinical Coordinators are supervisory personnel, with responsibility to make patient care assignments based on the skill, experience, and temperament of the nursing personnel and on the acuity of the patients. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in unit status. Assists the Nursing Director with coordination/monitoring/evaluation of unit staff and activities, including but not limited to: education, staff evaluations, policies and procedures, and scheduling. Ensures patient and staff safety, and assist in the evaluation of performance and skills of Agency/Temporary staff as well as permanent critical care staff. Responsibly directs and precepts these staff members as needed/assigned in all aspects of critical care management. Participates in qualify and process improvement in the department during all phases from planning to implementing, and sustaining efforts, including taking corrective action if other employees fail to carry out delegated duties.
