Assistant Store Director – Fridley Cub Location The overall role and responsibility of this position is to provide store supervision and associate development, and to develop competency in all aspects of store management. Working closely with the Store Director and department heads, the candidate will plan for and achieve maximum sales, maintain proper controls, and foster positive working conditions. The position requires basic operational knowledge across all departments and assumes responsibility for entire store operations and related decisions in the absence of the Store Director, with an emphasis on key service and engagement operations such as cash controls, customer experience, front‑end and e‑commerce operations, scheduling, and Human Resources functions. Strong supervisory, administrative, and associate‑relations skills are essential. The candidate must be able to encourage individual and group effort toward defined goals, provide training and development, and set work direction in a supportive and consistent manner. The role works in partnership with the Store Sales and Operations Manager to ensure all areas of responsibility and operations are maintained. Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities Work through the Store Director and department heads to establish budget, plan for and achieve budgetary numbers, and evaluate store performance continuously. Perform or assist in store grading at the discretion of the Store Director. Communicate consistently with department heads regarding priorities and objectives. Demonstrate understanding of store priorities and anticipate changes. Show initiative in problem solving and readily adjust to changing conditions. Keep the Store Director informed of store conditions and decisions made. Monitor store appearance and conditions to ensure high standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and productivity. Check that store security conditions are maintained. Assess conditions in each department at least once per hour. Check parking lot and grounds for safety, cleanliness, and compliance with designated smoking areas. Monitor associate effectiveness, productivity, and efficient labor utilization. Enforce store policies and procedures. Review and approve weekly schedules before posting, monitor store conditions, and make adjustments as necessary. Monitor department planning systems in relation to objectives accomplished. Ensure safety procedures are followed and working conditions are safe. Monitor customer relations and service levels to ensure a positive shopping environment. Maintain the Cub Hub dashboard and hold teammates accountable daily for completion of training courses. Participate in store meetings and contribute to the decision‑making process. Make suggestions and recommendations for improvements. Perform delegated Store Director responsibilities in the absence of the Store Director or as assigned. Supervise Front‑End Operations, training and oversight of cashiers, CSMs, SCOT attendants, Service Center, and Bookkeeping. Supervise the e‑Commerce department, including scheduling, picking, staging, and metrics. Supervise the Maintenance department and ensure store conditions are properly maintained. Perform probationary and regular performance reviews. Schedule personnel in collaboration with the head of maintenance for proper coverage. Train and oversee cart retrieval procedures. Perform store personnel functions as necessary. Conduct screening interviews and recommend candidates to department heads. Consult with department heads on personnel problems and work to resolve them. Administer corrective action notices and consult the Store Director on terminations. Ensure compliance with union contract rules. Manage payroll/time‑clock, workers’ compensation, and general liability reporting and follow‑up. Job Requirements Demonstrate functional/technical store operations expertise. Possess proven managerial skills to monitor performance and accountability. Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and lead others. Resourceful and able to work across all areas of the business. Ability to motivate and collaborate with others to achieve desired results. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good judgment is required, as direct supervision may not always be immediately available.
