Assistant Store DirectorThis Assistant Store Director role is for the Northside Cub location.Purpose:The overall role and responsibility of this position is to provide store supervision and associate development, and to develop competency in all aspects of store management. This position works closely with the Store Director and department heads to plan for, and achieve maximum sales, proper controls, and positive working conditions. Position requires basic operational knowledge and exposure to all departments. This position assumes responsibility for entire store operations and related decisions as assigned in absence of Store Director, with an emphasis on key service and engagement operations, including cash controls, customer experience, front end and ecommerce operations, scheduling, and Human Resource functions within the store. Strong supervisory, administrative, and associate relations skills are essential. Position requires ability to encourage individual and group effort toward defined goals and to provide training, development, and work direction in a supportive and consistent manner. The Store Engagement Manager will work in partnership with the Store Sales and Operations Manager to ensure all areas of responsibility and operations are maintained.Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:Works through Store Director and department heads to establish budget, plan for and achieve budgetary numbers and evaluate store in this light on an ongoing basisPerforms or assists in store grading at discretion of the Store DirectorCommunicates consistently with department heads, concerning priorities and objectivesDemonstrates understanding of store priorities and can anticipate changesShows initiative in problem solvingCan readily adjust to changing conditionsKeeps Store Director informed to store conditions and decisions madeMonitors store appearance and conditions to ensure high standards of cleanliness, efficiency, and productivityChecks that store security conditions are maintainedAssesses store conditions in each department no less than once per hours and checks conditions of parking lot and grounds for safety and cleanliness, smoking in designated locationMonitors associate effectiveness and productivity and ensures efficient labor utilizationEnsures store policies and procedures are enforcedReviews and approves weekly schedules before posted, monitors store conditions and makes appropriate adjustments throughout the week as necessaryMonitors department planning systems in relation to objectives accomplishedChecks that safety procedures are followed and working conditions are safeMonitors customer relations and service levels to ensure a positive shopping environmentMonitors Cub Hub dashboard and holds teammates accountable daily for completion of training coursesParticipates in store meetingsContributes to the decision-making process of the storeMakes suggestions and recommendations for improvementsPerforms delegated Store Director responsibilities in the absence of Store Director or as assignedSupervises Front End OperationsTraining and oversight of cashiers, CSM's, SCOT attendants, Service Center and BookkeepingSupervises eCommerce departmentOverall operation including scheduling, picking, staging, metricsSupervises Maintenance department and ensures store conditions are properly maintainedPerforms probationary and regular performance reviewsSchedules personnel in collaboration with head of maintenance to ensure proper coverageTraining and oversight of cart retrieval proceduresPerforms store personnel functions as necessaryConducts screening interview and recommends candidates to department headsConsults with department heads about personnel problems and work to resolveAdministers corrective action notices and consults Store Director on terminationsEnsures compliance with union contract rulesPayroll/timeclock managementWorker's Compensation and General Liability reporting and follow upJob Requirements: Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrates functional/technical store operations expertiseProven managerial skills to successfully monitor performance and accountabilityPossess strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate othersResourceful with ability to work across all areas of the businessPossess the ability to motivate and work in cooperation with others to achieve desired resultsDemonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skillsGood judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of the work performed by the employees assigned to this job.
