The NNL Core Materials, Manufacturing, and Irradiations Department is looking for an experienced engineer to join the team responsible for designing the irradiations experiments and capabilities of the future. The Future Irradiations Testing (FIT) unit is seeking an experienced engineer to be involved in setting the direction of the NNL future irradiation testing needs by working with the FIT lead engineer, materials test sponsors, and nuclear analysts. The successful candidate will work with the team to develop the well documented technical basis for these designs and contribute to and assess initial design planning and concepts. This will also include teaming to evaluate chemical, thermal, and nuclear characteristics needed for the future testing environment. The successful candidate will collaborate on a diverse, cross-functional, multi-organization team and will interface with their coworkers from on-site as well as remotely via modern collaboration tools.




Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or PhD degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.



Degree in nuclear, chemical, mechanical, or materials engineering or materials science.
Experience with irradiation testing at the Advanced Test Reactor.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
