The following position is to join our Research Center:

For more than 90 years the RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC) has operated as a multidisciplinary group of experts collaborating on groundbreaking innovations. The Physical Sciences Department at RTRC is seeking a test engineer in the area of high temperature materials testing. This position will be an integral member of a dynamic team focused on accelerated development of next generation high temperature materials for both aerospace and defense applications. The role will be responsible for the operation, maintenance and future development of unique high temperature processing and testing equipment, including data processing, analysis, and reporting. The preferred candidate should have a strong understanding of basic engineering principles and must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and be capable of operating safely and independently in a laboratory environment while also being comfortable working with others from a variety of backgrounds. 

Qualifications You Must Have:

BS in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering with 2 years of related work experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory or materials testing environment, preferably focused on high temperature materials and direct, hands-on experience with high temperature processing or testing equipment, including but not limited to chemical vapor infiltration, pyrolysis, and coating deposition tools.

Knowledge of environmental and thermal barrier coating technology, including deposition and test methodologies with hands-on experience with maintenance and repair of high temperature equipment, including furnaces, autoclaves, and vacuum hot presses

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) or similar productivity software with excellent documentation and communication skills, and the ability to execute multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize tasking to meet project deadlines

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in design and construction of experimental test rigs for high temperature materials is preferred.

Proficiency with LabView programming and control is strongly preferred.

Experience with standard laboratory and life safety systems (e.g., gas alarms, equipment interlocks) and experience in creating and maintaining standard operating procedures is preferred.

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
