Summary:

The Quality Control Technician 1 is an individual contributor responsible for supporting the systems and processes used to evaluate and disposition tissue products.

Responsibilities:

  1. Performs QC visual inspection at various points in the disposition lifecycle (e.g., initial receipt, IR packing and shipping, transit of released tissue, etc.) of allograft tissue and dispositions grafts for hold or discard based on physical evaluation of the allografts and packaging.
  2. Participates in the selection, packing, and shipping allograft tissue for Irradiation.
  3. Supports the management of quarantine allograft tissue rooms, specifically monitoring un-released inventory for expiring tissue and tracking FFP allograft inventory/allocation to customers.
  4. Participates in the development of process improvement initiatives (e.g., electronic records, value stream mapping) within their scope of work.
  5. Facilitates the transit and receipt of released tissue to and from Hospital Services.
  6. Supports inventory audits of quarantined tissue under the supervision of Quality Control Management.
  7. Assists in the archival and maintenance of records.
  8. Performs QC review of documentation as assigned (e.g., logs, temperature monitoring, etc.).
  9. Participates in special projects and other assignments as directed.


Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred. QC experience in an FDA-regulated environment is required. Certification by the American Association of Tissue Banks is preferred.
  2. Requires strong computer, communication, and writing skills.
  3. Requires excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize competing priorities, and the ability to maintain a high-level of accuracy.
  4. Ability to work in a cold environment (e.g., in a walk-in cooler or handling frozen tissue).
  5. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.


Working Conditions:

Work may require extended hours during peak processing and/or procurement periods. Extensive computer/desk work and exposure to refrigerated environments. Office space and equipment will be provided to perform necessary duties. Hazardous conditions include, but are not limited to, the possible exposure to microorganisms, viruses, chemicals and potentially infectious body fluids.
