Background

This position is responsible for sales development in the grocery and natural retail channels as well as managing sale in all other channels (C-Stores, Club) for the snacking business on the East coast. This position is responsible for all key client relationships, selling directly to key customers, negotiation with customers and management the day-to-day activity of these customers. Responsibilities also include building additional sales capability and hiring and managing brokers as needed. This person must want to be a pioneer, be adaptable, motivated by open new accounts, being in the field and hands on in the marketplace and with rest of the Snacking team. They will be responsible for the development and execution of the annual sales plans and sales budgets within the Snack business unit. They must have a deep understanding of the distributors, brokers and customers in the East.


Responsibilities

  • Personally make key account calls and coordinate accounts with the other Sigma sales teams.
  • Partners with sales managers to define strategy for existing and new distribution channels, new product opportunities in current locations, and expand into new territories.
  • Hire and manage a broker network where applicable.
  • In the market to identify and communicate all expansion opportunities for accounts.
  • Oversees KPI sales, volume/price, spoilage, over/under performing accounts, etc.
  • Oversees and manage customer promotions and to ensure we are spending efficiently.
  • Monitors and takes corrective action on any issue which will impact the brands financial results.
  • Maintain the price structure and provides adjustments to preserve healthy profit margins.
  • Manage all expenses and administrative responsibilities per the account assigned annual plan.
  • Ongoing performance monitoring – evaluate performance, identify opportunities, and execute changes as needed.
  • Direct, manage, and train future Sales Representatives.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have experience in the Food Category, snack category is a benefit.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience – managing a team/broker network.
  • Ten (10) years sales experience – account management and history of reaching sales goals.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.
  • Lives near a major transportation hub to easily travel throughout the East coast.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Snack category experience, Salty Snack, Meat Snack categories is a plus.
  • Prior category management experience using market syndicated data.
  • Sales Team/Broker management experience.
