SENIOR ESTIMATOR - Structural Steel

Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of estimating practices and industry standards, with a proven track record of accurately assessing project costs and supporting successful bid processes.

Responsibilities:


  • Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication projects.
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and procurement teams to gather necessary information for accurate pricing.
  • Conduct thorough material take-offs and labor estimates based on project requirements.
  • Research and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including direct and indirect costs, labor costs, material costs, and overhead expenses.
  • Develop and present detailed bid proposals to clients, highlighting cost assumptions, pricing strategies, and value propositions.
  • Participate in bid review meetings and negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, pricing benchmarks, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Provide post-bid analysis and feedback to improve estimating accuracy and win rates.
  • Mentor and train junior estimators as needed.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in estimating within the structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift, Timberline) and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with value engineering and cost analysis techniques.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required.
