The Director of Advanced Practice Providers is a dynamic professional who understands the essential role that the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) plays in the delivery of high quality care at NYCBS. Working in accordance with other clinical and non-clinical leadership, the Director of APPs is responsible for the growth and development of the APP staff and ensuring the proper utilization of the APP staff to optimize the support of the physician staff and to avoid gaps of care for all patients.

In this role, you will:
 
  • Supervise the work and performance of Advanced Practice Providers employed by NYCBS, including input for performance evaluations and corrective action plans as needed
  • Recognize the diverse skill levels of individual staff members & the unique needs of the patient population when developing staffing plans
  • Work with clinical and non-clinical team members to review and recommend changes regarding the utilization of personnel and propose staffing patterns to ensure that the required APP support is in place for all providers per NYCBS standards
  • Manage all APP PTO requests
  • Participate in all regularly scheduled APP team meetings at a cadence of at least once per quarter 
  • Implement and communicate policies and procedures related to APP practice
  • Develop and promote teamwork
  • Recruit and retain APP staff
    • Develop training plans for all newly hired APPs with interdepartmental collaboration
    • Track progress of all new hires via communication with APP preceptors and providers
    • Identify and address gaps in knowledge and areas for improvement
    • Provide opportunities for continuing education relevant to the APP’s practice specialty
  • Conduct clinical reviews and participate in responses to patient complaints, quality management issues and risk management requests
  • Participate in collection and reporting of data

We require:
  • Completion of an accredited program and licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) in the state of New York
  • At least 5 years of clinical practice as an APP, Oncology experience preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • Effective communication skills with the capability to determine how best to reach different audiences and execute communications based on that understanding
  • Willing to take action and eager to accept new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm
  • A good decision-maker, with proven success in making timely decisions that maintain high standards within the organization
  • Knowledge and understanding of the role of an APP in specialty practice
  • The ability and willingness to travel to any of the NYCBS/NY Health locations
  • Proficient in Google Suite (Docs, Excel, Slides, calendar)
    • Experience with data reporting
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel and oversee all NYCBS offices across the 5 borough
Salary up to $180,000 annually based on experience.
