Overview

MODE is a dynamic and rapidly growing early-stage startup at the forefront of the Generative AI and Internet of Things (IoT) revolutions. With a growing presence in both the US and Japan, we are pioneering innovative solutions that connect the physical and digital worlds.

As MODE's Head of Business Development, you will play a direct and impactful role in growing our US business. Currently, a large portion of MODE's business is from the Japan market, so this is a unique leadership opportunity at a global generative AI startup. As the face of our US business, you will be instrumental in further developing relationships with prospective customers, fostering strategic partnerships and, ultimately, generating revenue and long-term value for MODE.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a US sales plan, identifying key priorities and necessary resources
  • Create compelling sales decks to pitch MODE's IoT and Generative AI software products to target US customers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, especially in providing customer feedback to Product and Engineering teams to guide future product enhancements
  • Identify and engage new business prospects through strategic outreach, networking, and market analysis, with a focus on B2B software sales in the IoT space
  • Conduct comprehensive needs analysis to tailor presentations and demonstrations, showcasing the unique value of MODE's solutions
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory developments to position MODE as a market leader
Requirements
  • Strong track record in B2B software sales, ideally within the IoT industry, and sales and marketing team leadership experience
  • Ability to quickly understand new technologies and technical concepts, in order to appeal to target customers
  • Strategic approach to lead and develop partnerships with consulting, sensor and AI companies
  • Self-starter mentality to complete necessary tasks proactively and solve problems creatively
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to both influence and handle objections from customers
  • Continuous learning mindset, in order to find ways to improve sales pitch after every customer interaction
  • An independent yet collaborative team player, determined to make an impact for our team and our clients
  • Entrepreneurial, with ambition to grow a new market and an interest in Generative AI and IoT technologies

  • Experience as Head of Business Development or Go-to-Market for a high growth startup
  • Technical background (computer science degree, familiarity with APIs, software engineering bootcamp)
