Assembler/Wire Technicians will be trained to prepare, build, and wire medium to large enclosures from start-to-finish, using ACI shop procedures and customer specifications. ACI is UL508 Certified, NEC-79 Capability, Custom Engraving, QC & Power Up (multi-point check list) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).

Job Summary

Under supervision, will be trained to drill, tap, and assemble back plates and small enclosures, using a Bill of Material and a layout drawing as a reference. Will be trained to pre-cut wire and pre-wire swing arms for programmable logic controllers (PLC) and modular receptacles and all other prep work. Will also be trained to read simple schematics to achieve these tasks. Will learn to form, route, label and terminate wires to and from control panel components and at the control panel terminal strip.

In this role you will:
  • Read, study, and learn the ACI Shop Manual.
  • Read, study, and learn the ACI Safety Manual.
  • Learn about various procedures and processes associated with Mass Production.
  • Have continuous training to expedite your skills.
  • Be assigned a fully mobile workstation which you will be responsible for maintaining your ACI supplied tools in, while keeping it clean and organized.
  • Learn about teamwork and play an important role as a member of the Shop Production team.
  • Learn to work with hand and power tools along with tool safety.
  • Learn to follow to follow the Shop Production Spreadsheet.
  • Learn to work with step by step procedures and while organizing your time to meet deadlines.
  • Learn how to repetitively produce a control panels in quantity without affecting quality.
Your potential and our expectations, include:
  • Having a positive attitude with great work ethic with a willingness to learn a specialty trade.
  • Communicating with fellow shop production workers and Project Engineers.
  • Moving up from the Assembler Wire Tech position to Jr. Panel Builder, Panel Builder, and then on to a Senior Panel Builder.
Experience with or willingness to learn all the technologies listed below:

Marginal Functions:
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for conforming to all safe work practices and procedures.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and orderly.
  • Responsible for reporting daily progress to the Shop Project Manager.
Working Conditions

Works on concrete floors and in drafty areas. May be exposed to fumes, fluids, dirt. Wearing of protective wear and other safety equipment is required.

Physical and Mental Demands
  • Position is based in a warehouse environment.
  • Routine physical activity such as reaching below and above shoulder level, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping to inspect repairs, climbing ladders, lifting, and carrying objects over 35lbs.
  • Exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, along with high levels of noise.
  • Subject to weather conditions both inside and outside.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
  • Occasional sedentary work.
  • Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned.
Accountable For:

Works under the supervision of the Project Manager who provides direction from established shop operating procedures. Work instructions are also directed by work orders.
