Marriott General Manager Long Beach, California Apply Now Location: Residence Inn Long Beach Downtown, 600 Queensway Drive, Long Beach, California, United States Schedule: Full-Time Position Type: Management JOB SUMMARY Bonus Eligible Functions as the primary strategic business leader of the property with responsibility for all aspects of the operation, including managing general property performance, sales and marketing strategy, profitability, revenue generation, and delivering a return on investment to both Marriott International and ownership. Leads the team in the development and implementation of property-wide strategies. Acts as a steward and key leader for reinforcing Residence Inn’s culture. Supports the implementation of the brand service strategy and brand initiatives with the objective of meeting or exceeding guest expectations and developing strong associate teams. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience: • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 6 years mixed management experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, sales and marketing, management operations, or related professional area. OR • 4-year bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 4 years mixed management experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, sales and marketing, management operations, or related professional area. CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Managing Property Operations and Department Budgets: • Verify that service programs are in place and executed against. • Provide timely feedback to management and hourly associates on service and operational standards. • Review and follow-up on property GSS scores and comments. • Create and support clear lines of responsibility for the management team. • Walk the property to ensure public spaces and work areas meet sanitation and cleanliness standards. • Manage the flow of labor between departments to support effective management of Labor Budget. • Act as a project manager for the execution of capital improvements. • Delegate responsibilities for operations and projects to appropriate level of associate. Managing and Sustaining Sales and Marketing Strategy: • Manage relationships with decision makers at top accounts. • Work with Market Sales to establish property sales strategy and action plans. • Coach and reinforce associate selling strategies. • Develop innovative means for capturing new streams of revenue through property amenities. • Monitor sales strategy with RSO to ensure ongoing effectiveness. Managing Profitability: • Measure, analyze, and communicate property performance using financial/non-financial data. • Monitor and forecast future occupancy and length of stay rate tiers. • Manage controllable costs associated with rooms, housekeeping, and food and beverage operations. Maintaining Revenue Management Goals: • Manage the relationship with the revenue management office. • Review and work with appropriate revenue management reports. Managing Relationships with Property Stakeholders: • Keep brand leadership team and owners updated on property performance. • Prepare and present reports for owners using financial/performance data. Managing and Conducting Human Resource activities: • Conduct performance review process for associates. • Manage ongoing development of managers. • Support recruitment and hiring efforts from various sourcing channels. Additional Responsibilities: • Manage daily paper mail. • Participate in conference calls regarding property performance. Salary and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $124,000 to $153,000 annually.
