POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for developing and overseeing training programs focused on healthcare in rural areas for clinical year PA students. This involves curricular design, student assessment, academic counseling, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and ensuring the delivery of relevant and effective training to address unique rural health needs.

This position is funded by external sources and is contingent on the continued receival of those funds. Currently funded through June 2029.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job duties specific to this position:

Provide high quality training utilizing integrative behavioral health in primary care models to care for patients

Implement community engagement initiatives designed to improve healthcare outcomes and address workforce inequities in rural communities.

Collaborate with community partners to identify opportunities for continuing education and training to meet unique needs of rural communities

Recruit of rural physician assistant (PA)students to program

Develop a rural mentor program and act as a learning facilitator who sets goals and timelines that enable trainees to deliver behavioral health services in rural communities, including preventing, identifying, diagnosing, treating, and referring services.

Collaborate on student research projects that pertain to rural healthcare

Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation of all grant activities and related data points.

Work on a team to enhance and develop curriculum

Participate in faculty development initiatives that strengthen the goals of the grant

QUALIFICATIONS

Masters Degree or terminal degree in content area of expertise (ie. MD, PhD, PharmD, NP, PA)

Five years of experience in clinical practice for MD, PA or other health professional, preferably in a rural area

Experience in health care education and/or academic administration preferred

Maintenance of clinical certification or licensure preferable
