As a B2B Business Development Manager on Amazon's Books team, you will be a key driver of new business growth by identifying, pitching, and acquiring large, strategic book contracts with top-tier institutional and enterprise customers. This includes leading universities, Fortune 500 corporations, school districts, government agencies, and other large organizations with complex content and purchasing needs. You will have a worldwide scope, with a primary focus on the US and EU markets.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Proactively prospect and cultivate relationships with senior decision-makers at high-value target accounts, including school districts, Fortune 500, universities, libraries, and other target customers.
  2. Develop and execute tailored business development strategies to win new large-scale, negotiated book contracts.
  3. Lead cross-functional collaboration with marketing, content, and operations teams to craft compelling solutions.
  4. Negotiate complex commercial terms, pricing, and contract agreements to seal major B2B deals.
  5. Achieve and exceed ambitious quarterly and annual sales targets for the B2B books segment.
  6. Stay ahead of industry trends, competitive landscape, and evolving customer needs.

About the team
You will be joining Amazon's fast-paced B2B Books team. We are a Biztech team, responsible for driving growth within the institutional and enterprise book customer segments. As part of this team, you will work alongside tech leaders, sales managers, and cross-functional partners to deliver exceptional service and innovative solutions to our B2B clients.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. 7+ years of successful B2B sales and business development experience, ideally in the book/publishing or education technology sector.
  2. Track record of consistently closing large, complex enterprise-level deals and contracts.
  3. Exceptional consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  4. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and make decisions based on analytics.
  5. Strong business acumen and strategic thinking capabilities.
  6. Excellent communication and presentation skills to engage C-suite stakeholders.
  7. Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. 10+ years of Sales/Business Development experience.
  2. MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g. business, marketing, economics).
  3. Passion for the book industry and a drive to expand Amazon's B2B books footprint.
