Responsibilities

The Dell Children's Medical Center Pediatric Hospitalist group APP performs 1) triage duties for all patients admitted from the DCMC ED, direct admits and infusions; and/or 2) in-patient rounding with supervising Attending. This position, under the supervision of an Attending, hospital-based evidence-based guidelines and approved protocols will triage patients and staff them to their appropriate inpatient team and/or round on non-ward team patients performing all appropriate exams, submitting all appropriate orders/coordination of care and discharge.

Responsibilities:

  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
  • Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
  • Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
  • Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.
  • Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.

Education:

  • Master's degree of Nursing required.
