Clinical Research Assistant I

Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Research Assistant position is key to our team, focusing on clinical research with a particular emphasis on gait analysis studies. This role is ideal for someone with a background in kinesiology or biomechanics, eager to apply their knowledge in a clinical research setting. Responsibilities include extensive patient interaction and collaboration with physicians across various specialties. The ideal candidate will be involved in all phases of the research process, particularly inpatient recruitment, assessing eligibility criteria, and coordinating study visits. Other duties include administering questionnaires, obtaining regulatory approvals, and ensuring data integrity. Candidates should be self-driven, able to work independently, and committed to accurate data handling and protocol adherence. This role offers mentorship opportunities, as well as the chance for authorship and presenting findings at academic conferences. A key focus of the research is exploring innovative methods to integrate comprehensive motion analysis into the clinical workflow of the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Identify, screen, and recruit patients, focusing on those suitable for gait analysis studies.
* Administer questionnaires and conduct interviews in various formats
* Coordinate patient visits, ensuring adherence to gait analysis study protocols.
* Prepare and submit study materials for Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval
* Schedule and manage study team meetings
* Regularly report on project milestones.
* Organize and maintain project files and documents.
* Design and maintain databases and data collection forms.
* Assist in the preparation of abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations.
* Create and maintain study-specific instruction manuals.
* Assist with training to new hires.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree, preferably in Kinesiology or a related field.
* Commitment to a minimum of 2 years in the position.
* Clinical research experience, particularly in patient recruitment and coordination of study visits.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, EMR (preferably EPIC) and database management.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
* Discretion and judgment in handling confidential information.
* Candidates with bioengineering/biomechanics/ or biotechnology backgrounds are encouraged to apply
