Position Summary

This position contributes to the design and delivery of research projects and collaborates with researchers to develop, execute and interpret research projects. Performs complex laboratory and data collection techniques.

The Research Specialist will assist with collaborative, laboratory activities in the area of Electrophysiology, genomics and atrial fibrillation This position must be well-organized, passionate about research, positively embrace teamwork while eagerly working toward independent proficiency to perform new skills and responsibilities as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

Conducting Experiments: Plan, design, and execute experiments related to electrophysiology and atrial fibrillation research. This includes performing in vitro and in vivo experiments using relevant models such as cell cultures, animal models, and human tissue samples. Data Collection and Analysis: Collect data from experiments using various techniques such as electrophysiological recordings, molecular biology assays, and imaging techniques. Analyze data using appropriate statistical methods and software tools to draw conclusions and generate hypotheses. Literature Review: Stay abreast of the latest research developments in the field of electrophysiology and atrial fibrillation. Conduct literature reviews to identify gaps in knowledge and opportunities for research. Experimental Design: Collaborate with principal investigators and other team members to develop experimental protocols and research methodologies. Optimize experimental procedures to ensure reproducibility and reliability of results. Presentation and Publication: Prepare research findings for presentation at conferences, seminars, and scientific meetings. Write manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals to support research activities. Collaboration: Collaborate with other researchers, both within the division and across departments or institutions, to leverage expertise and resources for collaborative projects. Participate in interdisciplinary research teams to address complex scientific questions. Experimental Techniques: Master and implement a variety of experimental techniques relevant to the field, including patch-clamp electrophysiology, calcium imaging, immunohistochemistry, molecular cloning, and gene expression analysis. Employ innovative approaches such as CRISPR technology and advanced cardiac modeling with hiPSC-aCMs Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in science or related field required. Masters degree or PhD in science preferred
* A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
* Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
* Proficient in specific lab research techniques.
