Position Summary

The Senior Clinical Manager (SCM) is an integral position within the clinic team. The Senior Clinical Manager provides quality administrative and clinical supervision to staff, leads and collaborates on projects that support the department, and carries a caseload of psychotherapy clients. The position is responsible for providing psychotherapy to 15 clients/week in addition to supervising between five and eight therapists at the LGSW, LICSW, LGPC, and/or LPC level. The Senior Clinical Manager leads and collaborates on projects that support behavioral health department quality improvement, compliance, and expansion. This position works a hybrid schedule - remotely & onsite, as needed.

Reportability

This position will report directly to the Senior Director of Clinical Services. This position will supervise 5-8 mental health therapists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

SUPERVISORY AND PROGRAMMATIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Provide individual administrative and clinical supervision to a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 therapists.
* Provide oversight to therapists on all aspects of service delivery.
* Ensure all clinical documentation is timely and high quality. Review and sign-off on diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
* Participate in hiring process and onboard and orient new staff.
* Continually monitor quality service delivery and provide ongoing constructive feedback to supervisees to support professional growth.
* Ensure appropriate documentation of all supervision meetings and maintain supervisory agreements with all supervisees.
* Complete annual performance evaluations and if needed establish performance improvement plans designed to coach assigned employees to improved performance.
* Contribute to the development of training topics for clinical staff annually and provide information that supports conducting the trainings throughout the year.
* Coordinate, facilitate, and participate in group supervision and case review meetings.
* Ensure staff meet required productivity standards.
* Participate in the weekly 24-hour on-call phone rotation schedule as a back-up provider.
* Participate in organization-wide and division-wide meetings and committees, departmental meetings and other meetings/conferences as assigned.
* Demonstrate cultural competency and support development of cultural competency in staff through appropriate trainings and other activities as needed.
* Ensure staff maintain their CEU requirements for their license level and to enhance their continued professional growth.
* Maintain statistics and provide reports as requested.
* Understand and apply state and federal confidentiality regulations with regard to clients' records and correspondence.
* Complete other duties as assigned.

CLINICAL SERVICE PROVISION:

* Explain therapist's role, client rights and responsibilities, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
* Complete a diagnostic assessment on all clients referred, gathering information from referral source, client chart and other pertinent sources, including family members and past providers of care.
* Determine DSM-5 diagnosis;
* Complete treatment plan and prior authorizations for services as required by individual insurance payers.
* Provide psychotherapy to support clients in their insight development and achievement of personal goals identified in treatment planning process.
* Document all contacts, referrals, and other necessary information.
* Maintain client records that are accurate, comprehensive, and adhere to documentation policies and billing timelines.
* Meet weekly productivity standards as set by Director.
* Engage families and significant others as needed to support treatment goals.
* Apply crisis management skills when necessary to stabilize clients.
* Maintain monthly statistics and provide reports as needed to Program Director.
* Participate in weekly case reviews of clients in peer group supervision.
* Accept cultural diversity and integrate the family's values and culture into services.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -

* Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field and an independent license to practice psychotherapy (LPC or LICSW) in the District of Columbia.
* MD licensure is preferred in addition to DC.
* Management/supervisory experience and experience working in community mental health strongly preferred.
* Excellent mental health knowledge and clinical skills.
* The ability to support and develop starting therapists.
* A solid understanding of trauma-informed supervision and care practices.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including an ability to bridge various points of view to support employees while also forwarding department goals.
* The ability to skillfully give and receive feedback.
* A strong understanding of the structural determinants of health; motivation and knowledge of best practice for diversity and inclusion in the workplace; the ability to self-reflect on and mitigate implicit bias in self and support supervisees to do the same.

Language Requirement - Ability to communicate effectively in English is required. Additional language fluency or proficiency is preferred.

Physical Demands - Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Work Environment - Mostly in a typical office and/or home setting with quiet to moderate noise level. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity due to outside weather conditions. Opportunity to work a hybrid schedule - remotely & onsite, as needed.
