This position covers multiple HeartPlace clinics located in the Tarrant county area. Prior working experience as an EP Cardiac Device Technician would be required.

General Summary

EP Device techs assist in the EP clinic with interrogations of pacemaker, defibrillator, and implantable loop recorder devices. The EP device tech will be responsible for managing patients in the remote device clinic. They also perform selected administrative/clerical duties that assist in patient care management.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides excellent customer service and the highest quality patient care.

2. Escorts patient to exam rooms.

3. Takes patient vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.)

4. Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts. (Proficiency Required)

5. Performs device checks/interrogation and oversees changes to devices at the direction of the physician.

6. Responsible for enrolling and maintaining patients in the remote device clinic.

7. Responsible for event recorders and Loop recorders hook up as needed. (Proficiency Required)

8. Maintains cleanliness and supplies in the device exam rooms.

9. Manages phone calls received from patients and other external sources.

10. Pulls patient charts when needed.

11. Uses the computer for patient inquiry and scheduling.

12. Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.

13. Ensures all required licensure/certification remain active/current at all times.

14. At all times protects the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) of patients per HIPAA regulations; including does not review his/her own record, or

records of employees or co-workers without a "need to know".

15. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.

16. Educates and advises patients on specified medical issues within established parameters.

17. Performs pre-operative teaching and supplies patient with teaching materials as necessitated.

18. Charts patients for physician's review.

19. Completes education requirements timely as set by the Company.

20. Adheres to company safety standards at all times.

21. Attends work in accordance with the attendance management policy.

22. Follows all other policies and procedures such that there are no verbal or written

warnings during the evaluation period.

23. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.

24. May be required to move between locations as needed.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. High school diploma or accredited GED equivalent.

2. Current CPR certification.

3. Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant Experience, EP experience highly preferred.

4. Current Medical Assistant Certification required, or must be able to obtain within 90 days of hire.

5. Fluently speaks, reads, and writes English. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

6. Understanding of OSHA requirements in a clinical setting

7. Understanding of HIPAA requirements.

8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

9. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, walking for extended periods of time, and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 50 pounds.

10. Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.

11. Is present at work during the scheduled hours and days of the job to work directly with patients, physicians, and team members, in accordance with the Company's Attendance policy.

12. Maintains professional attitude, presentation, and demeanor at all times.
