General Summary of Position
We are actively recruiting for a Director of Clinical Pharmacy to lead our innovative and collaborative team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

The Director of Pharmacy Clinical is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, coordinating and managing clinical pharmacy services and utilization management initiatives in coordination with MedStar goals that provide quality and cost-effective pharmacy care to patients, clients and staff throughout the health system under the highest professional standards. \r\rResponsibilities include clinical pharmacy program development, pharmacy services design that promotes effective formulary and drug utilization management, drug information and drug policy development as part of a program inter-linked with pharmacy business units. The position supports meeting service, stewardship, quality, utilization, and financial goals by managing MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. \r\rMAJOR CHALLENGES:\r1. Maintaining effective communication across pharmacy business units and divisions.\r2. Meeting pharmacy goals and organizational metrics established across business units. \r3. Meeting or exceeding utilization management target goals requiring various interventions and programs to successfully manage.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree Graduate from an accredited College of Pharmacy required
  • Doctoral degree PharmD required
  • Graduate of an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency program (PGY-1), and/or ASHP-accredited Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership residency program and/or Master's Degree preferred

Experience
  • 5-7 years Pharmacy leadership experience required
  • 10+ years Pharmacy leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrate progressively more responsible pharmacy experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications
  • PharmD - licensed pharmacist in the District of Columbia required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Comprehensive clinical pharmacy knowledge base.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement contemporary clinical pharmacy services and initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Project management expertise and demonstrated outcomes.
  • Interacts positively and effectively with multi-department/service teams.
