Job Goal:

Provide leadership and organizational support, provide professional services, and participate in special project activities in the area of Child Nutrition that support the ESC's core purpose and strategic goals.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Institutional Management, Food Service, Business, Nutrition, Family and Consumer Science, Public Health, Education, or related field (two years of work experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities may substitute for 1 year of education)

Experience

* Supervisory experience, including leading, coaching, and training staff members
* Five years of experience in food service management or child nutrition programs
* Experience in developing and presenting professional development
* 50% travel required including other ESC regions

Special Knowledge and Skills

* Supervisory and leadership skills in comprehensive planning and project management.
* Ability to comprehend both verbal and written complex directives, guidance, and instructions
* Ability to communicate complex information to diverse groups
* Ability to adapt well to change in priorities and direction
* Excellent conflict resolution skills
* Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the USDA, NSLP, CACFP, and SFSP
* Knowledge of current research into effective practices and current trends in Child Nutrition Programs
* Knowledge of how to analyze menus for USDA meal programs, menu planning, quantity food production, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points-Based Food Safety Plan
* Knowledge of adult learning styles as they relate to continuing professional education
* Ability to initiate and develop projects
* Ability to work one-on-one with Child Nutrition Directors of various experience levels
* Ability to objectively evaluate and utilize data to provide pertinent feedback or develop custom solutions
* Ability to use any formal training to enhance personal job performance
* Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work with and enhance a team

Preferred Qualifications

* Three years of successful experience as a Child Nutrition Director in a public or charter school system
* Master's degree in Institutional Management, Dietetics, Food Service, Nutrition, or related field

Major Responsibilities: Duties/responsibilities may change from year to year or during the year subject to changes in the legislation, regulations, and policies governing the school meal programs, and as prescribed by TDA.

* Coordinate and sponsor regional trainings in all areas of program operations for Child Nutrition Program staff.
* Provide training and technical assistance to Contracting Entities (CEs) as described in the Statement of Work - Exhibit A.
* Collaborate with other ESC regions to ensure equitable availability of training specialists across the state for all training events and facilitate the development and implementation of statewide training.
* Provide accurate and targeted technical assistance to contracting entity (CE) sites, and community nutrition and summer feeding program personnel in all areas of program operations with a focus on implementation of a specified program area.
* Attend and participate in state staff meetings, special committees, and workgroups as directed by TDA.
* Maintain program budgets, reporting information, and CE files according to TDA guidelines.
* Provide structure for the Child Nutrition Program staff to ensure that contract deliverables are met in a timely manner and with a high standard of customer service and support for districts.
* Display proficient levels of technology applications and remain current in digital integration.
* Prepare and organize resources, train, and collaborate with Region 4 personnel.
* Exhibit initiative in identifying problems and suggesting solutions in a positive manner.
* Exhibit good judgement and decision making.
* Keep supervisor informed of program and district needs.
* Maintain up-to-date entries in Region 4 databases and accurate records for tracking and invoicing.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all current state and federal regulations and guidance related to the topics for which professional development and technical assistance is provided.
* Perform additional duties as assigned by TDA.

Supervision/Personnel Management

Provide leadership, accountability, and yearly evaluations to all assigned staff members.

Physical Demands/Environmental Factors/ Mental Demands:

Frequent use of standard office equipment; prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; repetitive hand motions (keyboarding and use of mouse); occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 20 pounds); may work prolonged and irregular hours; occasional statewide travel; work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure.
