Sigma Healthcare team is looking for Mental Health Technician to work onsite at our client's location.

Shift: 07:00 - 15:30

Brief Unit Description:
  • Inpatient Program - Patients ages 3 to 18 who require an inpatient stay receive 24-hour care through our child and adolescent services program. We run two concurrent groups on our inpatient unit. Age, developmental stage and presenting problems determine which group is most appropriate for a particular child. In addition, we believe that children need physical activity and fresh air, so as often as possible we go outside as a group, or individually. We incorporate pet therapy, spirituality, music, yoga and other activities into the day. We treat patients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, psychiatric disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, and other behavioral problems. We use comprehensive psychological assessment and focused treatment interventions to stabilize acute psychiatric crises and help children and their families begin the process of growth and recovery. Services and Approach - We offer a nurturing and non-coercive environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Communicates patients' progress toward desired outcomes and changes to the Registered Nurse.
  • Monitors patients/their environment and intervenes appropriately to promote a safe and therapeutic milieu.
  • Identifies own learning needs/goals based on timely self-evaluation. Makes progress/meets goals set from the previous year.
  • Completes forms and flow sheets accurately according to policies and procedures. Reinforces transition/discharge teaching and home care skills.
  • Describes the unit's quality improvement activities, trends and goals. Participates actively in quality improvement initiatives and reports variances in practice in accordance with Inova Health System policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in all required clinical skills and technologies.
  • Provides information to patients, families and visitors.
  • Provides basic activities of daily living nursing care.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Required:
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and demonstrate ability to adapt readily to emergency situations.
  • Ability to speak clearly so listeners can comprehend.
  • Ability to use reasoning to Client answers to problems.
  • Ability to be aware of others reactions and understand the possible causes.
  • Knowledge of mental health and/or substance abuse.
  • Possesses individual and group counseling skills.
Certifications - Required:
  • EMR (Charting System): Epic
  • Certifications Required: None.
Skill Sets Required:
  • Trauma informed patient centered, able to verbally deescalate patients.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Minimum of (2) year of experience required.
