Job Description
Augustana University is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Accounting Assistant. The successful candidate will assist in various financial tasks including general bookkeeping, bank monitoring and balancing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, student accounts management, purchasing, credit card management, and risk insurance reporting and questionnaires.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform general bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, recordkeeping, tax form preparation, and reconciliation of financial transactions.
* Monitor and balance bank accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with university policies.
* Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently.
* Analyze student accounts, including billing, collections, and inquiries.
* Assist in purchasing activities, including processing purchase orders and reconciling invoices.
* Manage credit card transactions and reconcile statements.
* Prepare risk insurance reports and respond to questionnaires from insurance providers.
* Collaborate effectively with other members of the Business Office team to ensure smooth financial operations.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field helpful, but not required.
* Proven experience of 5-7 years in accounting or financial management role.
* Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and bookkeeping.
* Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
Interacting with students, faculty and leadership with different backgrounds and points of view and a deep appreciation of and respect for academic values and culture must be a top value of the candidate.
