Job Overview

Volunteers of America, Dakotas is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team in the Finance department.

Job Summary:

  • Assist the Controller and CFO in maintaining the general ledger, preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements, and ensuring grant compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for VOA Dakotas.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries into accounting software, verifying accuracy of information entered.
  • Assist in preparing the annual budget.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly grant spreadsheets and assist with grant reporting.
  • Support the annual financial audit for VOA Dakotas, VOA Foundation, and Pettigrew Heights, as well as annual grant compliance testing.
  • Record monthly payroll entries and calculate and record monthly payroll accrual amounts.
  • Conduct monthly revenue reconciliation and revenue and expense variance analysis.
  • Provide program analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with program billings.
  • Perform other duties as negotiated.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree in accounting.
  • Three years of accounting experience, including balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
  • Intermediate Excel experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment on a regular basis.
