Job Description
Purpose:
To locate patients and assist patient/families information of the facility. To assist patients/families by serving as a facilitator with information of patient's location, patient's telephone number, and name of physician. Contact Patient Relations for support to families/patients. Someone who is dynamic and engaging with patients and who can navigate the facility to all clinical and departmental areas.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Clerical Associate III is charged with and responsible for:
• Assist at Main Lobby and RBG Lobby Information Desks, informing visitors where their loved ones are located, physician's names and bedside telephone number. Accurately and professionally provide appropriate visitation access through the processing and distribution of visitor passes via Passage Point. Ability to think independently to provide excellent customer service.
• Greet and interact with all persons in a courteous, culturally competent, and professional manner.
• The ability to work on multiple projects, establish appropriate priorities and the ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
• Provide language access assistance and ensure communication is conducted in the patient and/or visitor's preferred language.
• Maintain patient confidentiality/information in accordance with HIPAA
• Collaborate with and support HP to maintain safety and security at all points of entry.
• Make referrals to Supervisors and Patient Relations regarding patient/visitor concerns, comments or complaints
• and Refer patients to Patient Relations when a patient wishes to restrict any visitors.
• Model and embody ICARE in all behaviors, as well as the person-centered care philosophy that supports our caring culture. Serve as an advocate to patients and families.
• Perform all duties in alignment with the mission, vision, values, and behavioral expectations of NYC Health + Hospitals.
• Long periods of standing and hours are fluctuating and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and
2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
Department Preferences
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database software programs and applications.
