Job Description

Behavior Facilitator

STATUS: Certified - Contract

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for direct oversight of district center-based emotional disturbance (ED) programs at the elementary and middle school level. This position is also responsible for oversight of consultation services for students at risk of more restrictive behavioral placements. This position is expected to provide ongoing training, consultation, and support to district staff in the areas of behavior, social-emotional learning, and mental health. This position is part of the Special Services department and reports to the Assistant Director of Special Services.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ED/Behavior Program Facilitator is responsible for the following:
• Oversight of the center-based ED Programs
• Training and support of certified and classified staff within center-based ED Programs on trauma-informed practices and other related topics
• Provide regular Safe Crisis Management (SCM) trainings to center-based ED staff
• Monitor the ESI data within the center-based ED programs to ensure regular use of best practices
• Observation of students and consultation with IEP teams prior to ED placement
• Maintain a current and projected case load list for all center-based ED programs
• Assist with transitions between programs
• Train and supervise Behavior Instructional Assistants (BIAs)
• Train and support Behavior Coaches
• Train and supervise Therapeutic Program Paraprofessionals (TPPs)
• Consult with special education and district leadership on behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health initiatives
• Oversee and coordinate Safe Crisis Management trainings, including initial certifications, recertifications, and management of training staff
• Develop and lead professional development sessions for district staff in the area of behavior management
• Participate in team meetings as appropriate
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in education or related field
• Graduate Degree or other advanced education preferred
• Kansas Special Education Certification in any area
• Successful classroom teaching experience, specifically with an ED population, highly preferred
• Knowledge and successful use of current research based instructional and behavioral strategies
• Leadership and organizational skills
• Effective, professional communication skills
• Ability and desire to work as a contributing member of a team
• Ability to effectively coach and mentor educators
• Ability to provide engaging research based professional development
• Minimum of three years of successfully supporting students with emotional and behavior disorders.
• Successful experience as a member of a special education team.
• Successful experience providing training and leadership to adult learners.

• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
• High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality
• Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment
• Highly collaborative team player
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results
